The Stables cottage Northumbria

As its name suggests, The Stables was originally used to house horses, but has been tastefully converted to provide an idyllic retreat for a large family or group of friends. The property has its own wood-burning stove, so you can make the most of what the region has to offer, even in the colder months. For the summer, visitors can use the owner`s tennis court or indulge in a spot of alfresco dining in the private patio area at the rear of the property.

Bellingham is surrounded by the Northumberland National Park, is part of the Pennine Way and is near to Kielder Water, all of which makes it a walkers` paradise and a well-located base from which to see the rest of the region. Bellingham is the unofficial capital of the North Tyne Valley and is supposed to be built on the site of an old Roman station. It is extremely picturesque, comprising of a number of natural stone houses and there is much to see in the village itself, such as its 12th century church, the Heritage Centre and a cascading waterfall, which is just a short walk away. Nearby, other attractions include the Northumberland National Park, Hadrian`s Wall and Kielder Forest and Water. There are plenty of walks to be had in the region, as well as a host of outdoor activities, such as horse-riding, fishing and canoeing.
