Rhiwlas is a traditional Welsh village set on the foothills of the Snowdonia Mountain range with its own primary school and within easy access from the A55 Expressway, 4 miles from the city of Bangor with its University and with the famous town of Llanberis just 6 miles away. Llanberis offers excellent places to eat and drink, fabulous shopping, and is dominated by the grandeur of the Snowdon Massif. It is renowned as something of a `mecca` for walkers and climbers, being the starting point for the ascent of Snowdon, the highest mountain in England and Wales. The ascent can be made either by the Snowdonia Mountain Railway, or on foot along one of the many routes to the summit. Just 7 miles from Llanberis, on the coast, is Caernarfon with its magnificent Castle and town walls and close by are National Trust properties at Penrhyn and Plas Newydd. With Anglesey and the entire North Wales coastline within easy reach, Rhiwlas is an excellent holiday location.
