Bridge Cottage cottage Northumbria
Positioned on the outskirts of Haltwhistle, this 19th century cottage is a cosy home-from-home. Offering a very high standard of accommodation, this recently refurbished property is comprised of a fully fitted kitchen, living room with dining area, two bedrooms and a lovely patio in the property`s walled garden. This is a fantastic retreat for the summer holidays with the facilities for al-fresco eating, barbecues and a wide variety of outdoor activities nearby, though for those `English Summer` days, the property is equipped with Sky TV, a DVD player and a stereo system so that even when it rains, you won`t be bored. Known as the `Centre of Britain`, this small village is easily accessible by car, bus and train.
The small market town of Haltwhistle is a vibrant place, offering a wide range of shops and other amenities. Home to The Black Bull – a proper, old fashioned pub, serving quality food and real ale – the village is a welcoming place to return to following a day of walking, pony trekking or cycling. With the Pennine Way and other great cycle routes and Bridleways running nearby, it`s easy to enjoy this stunning scenery, which boasts dramatic castles, surging rivers and beautiful forests. Those interested in the country`s history are sure to enjoy a visit to one of the best preserved stretches of Hadrian`s Wall, only a mile north of the village, and with an ongoing dig on the site of Vindolanda, it`s easy to get in touch with the nation`s past. If history isn`t your cup of tea, then there is a regular train and bus service in to Newcastle and Carlisle, meaning that you can leave your car behind and enjoy the nightlife the big cities have to offer.
