Just a stones throw from Calbourne Water Mill this cottage is ideally located for exploring the islands countryside and is located on the road which provides a link between Freshwater and Newport. Footpaths start close to the cottage leading to Newbridge Calbourne and to the downs above Brighstone. Here they link with the renowned Tennyson trail to Freshwater Bay. The quiet beaches and small coves of Brighstone Brook and Freshwater are all within an easy drive away while the market town of Newport and Carisbrooke Castle are also nearby. Step into the charming lodge and into the characterful hexagonal shaped kitchen which has been equipped with everything you could need. Cook up a storm on the electric cooker and hob make use of the microwave and fridge/freezer and set the slimline dishwasher to avoid those washing up arguments. Theres also a washing machine. Relax in the spacious open-plan lounge which has comfortable seating around a TV/DVD. Theres also an attractive dining area beside a window which looks out onto the stunning grounds. The accommodation is all on the ground floor so you ll also find the bedrooms here. The double has fitted wardrobes and windows overlooking the garden and theres also a twin bedroom. Theres a large bathroom with a shower over the bath and WC. Please be aware that there are some internal steps between rooms on the ground floor of the cottage with one step between the lounge and hallway which leads to the bedrooms and bathroom and half a step down from the hallway to the bathroom and twin bedroom. Immediately beside the cottage is a lovely enclosed south-facing courtyard with garden furniture. Its the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee or perhaps dine al fresco. Nearby there is a summer house for visitor use while the large grounds include lawns woodland an attractive unfenced pond and pretty stream. Parking is available on the drive for two to three cars. Need to know: 2 bedrooms 1 double and 1 twin. 1 bathroom. Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. TV/DVD in lounge. Central heating and electric included. Off road parking for up to 3 cars. Ground floor accommodation (a few individual internal steps between rooms). Pond and stream on site. Local amenities and facilities within easy driving distance. 2 dogs are welcome. Fires, candles and BBQs not permitted due to thatched roof. Please note children and dogs need close supervision due to proximity of the unfenced stream and pond.
