Discover the breath-taking natural beauty of the South Downs, from Brooks Lodge at Chapel Barn. Designed by a team of architects and interior designers, Brooks Lodge is a contemporary extension to an 18th century flint barn on the outskirts of Piddinghoe village. Situated on a private farm estate, Brooks Lodge has beautiful, rural views over fields, hills and a large pond. The River Ouse is a stone's throw away and it meanders its way up the river valley towards the historic county town of Lewes about five miles away.

The use of sympathetic, but modern, materials produce an extraordinary dwelling, allowing the rural landscape to be visible from all angles, through expansive glazed windows. It has been designed to the utmost ecological requirements and is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The Lodge sits easily within its country side landscape due to the use of traditional materials such as flint, slate and brick. It nestles comfortably between the barn and a work from home studio which is huddled into the hillside. Brooks Lodge has a private entrance, lower landscaped courtyard garden and upper deck garden, creating a sense of privacy and intimacy within the estate. The property also benefits from an unobstructed view over a spectacular pond, home to a family of ducks, and far reaching down land views over the brooks of the River Ouse.

Stepping through the entryway into the lodge, you are greeted by an indisputable sense of cocooned serenity, the double height space feeling both substantial, and cosy in equal measure. Every room is generously proportioned with relaxing, elegant furniture designed with relaxation in mind.

On the first floor, the kitchen/dining room has large bifold doors, opening the kitchen entirely onto private decking with table, chairs and sun loungers and a beautifully planted secluded garden. The panelled living room has fabulous views on three sides and when lit the log burning stove creates an inviting ambiance during the colder seasons. The dual aspect ground floor master bedroom benefits from the view of the walled courtyard with the sound of gentle rippling water from the nearby koi carp pond.

Brooks Lodge was completed in February 2012. The property won a Sussex Heritage Award in 2013 due to its well-executed and interesting contemporary extension to the original flint barn. More recently in 2019, 'Quality in Tourism' awarded the property a Five Star Gold Award.
