There are numerous historic sites in the county of Stirling, such as Bannockburn, site of one of the most famous battles in Scottish history. The Wallace National Monument is a must for Braveheart fans, with a view from the top, as far as Ben Lomond and Edinburgh, it's worth the climb. Visit Stirling Castle which was home to many Scottish kings and seat of the Stewart dynasty. Visitors can see a timeline which shows many of the famous past residents of Stirling Castle, such as William Wallace and Mary Queen of Scots. The medieval town of Stirling has much to offer visitors today, great historic walks with local guides, or for the more contemporary orientated, there's fantastic shopping and entertainment.

There are some superb rental options in pretty towns like the former spa town of Bridge of Allan, or Dunblane where pet friendly bed & breakfasts and child friendly accommodation are easy to book. The West Highland Way walking trail passes through the Strath Blane valley and is a picturesque and diverse route, a favourite with children and dogs.
