Nottinghamshire is famous for one of England's most enduring heroes, Robin Hood. Or try the Museum of Nottingham Life at Brewhouse Yard, which gives visitors an insight into everyday life in the city over the last 300 years. The City of Caves is a unique and exciting attraction, underneath the city streets. The original Anglo-Saxon tunnels used to house cave dwellers and were also escape routes and hiding places. Nottinghamshire has many beautiful towns and villages, as well as miles of waterways and canals, perfect for family holidays. Visit the market towns of Mansfield or Retford for great days out, or try the bimonthly Newark Antiques Fair in the hsitoric town of Newark. For child and pet friendly fun, the Attenborough Nature Centre is one of Nottinghamshire's best attractions. BBC Wildlife magazine lists it as one of the world's top ten eco destinations and the centre has a variety of activities and events throughout the year.
