Drivers can of course take the Forth Road Bridge, the views are thrilling, many places are pet friendly. The East Neuk of Fife with its quaint fishing villages and sea views is ideal for dog walking and beach fun. This area is just south of St Andrews and the stone harbours of fishing villages like Pittenweem, Anstruther, Crail and St. Monans are postcard perfect.
The pretty town of Leven with its lovely beach is popular with visitors, the sea views are fabulous. Sports lovers flock to St Andrews, home of golf and of the Royal and Ancient golf club. Featuring the Himalayas putting green, which is also known as the ladies green, it's a great favourite. Playing the Old Course is difficult as demand is so high, but your chances may be better for the Himalayas putting green. There's lots of great child friendly accommodation on offer, as well as many self-catering options nearby.
